What are we doing NOW?

FIRST SOLAR CAMP

The Children’s Haven Association (TCHA), in collaboration with Solar Austin, a 501(c)3 and Solar Energy installation companies is introducing solar energy to underserved communities with a showcase installation at their facility on 21st St. and Chicon.    In addition to showcasing the energy panels, TCHA is providing an environment for education to underserved youth by offering a Solar Camp at the time of installation which also provides introductions and networking with potential employers.  We anticipate on-going camps at our facility, continuing to provide opportunities for underserved youth.

Special Thanks to: Lighthouse Solar, Freedom Solar, Unirac, Del Valle ISD’s Opportunity Center, NATIVE Solar, Enphase, Kinect Solar, Austin Energy, and CED Greentech for collaboration on this project!!

CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS BY GIVING

December initiates the “Giving” spirit with an Angel Tree and numerous requests for assistance to provide gifts for children.  In the past requests have been filled for Children from Bertha Sadler Means, LL Campbell and The Ebenezer Child Development Center together with several underserved families submitted by the Frederick Douglas Club and nearby churches.  TCHA was able to provide gifts while Austin Threads provided special stockings for all.  It was a great joy to receive this note of thanks from Bertha Sadler Means:  “On behalf of Sadler Means Young Women’s Leadership Academy, thank you for blessing our girls and families in such a wonderful way.”
